Mystery of ‘alien-like’ sea creatures washed up on beach at holiday hotspot

Mystery surrounds odd wiggling sea creatures that have washed up on a beach popular with British tourists.

Locals are unable to explain the odd phenomenon and say the five-inch long rubber-looking blobs have started appearing over the last few weeks.

A holidaymaker from the UK even grabbed one of the bizarre life forms from the beach and put it back in the sea, but it appeared to hold its mini snout above the water in a bid to breath.

The odd specimen was spotted wiggling along the sand on Koh Lanta island, off the south west coast of Thailand, on Saturday afternoon.

British tourist Louis Burgoyne who found the pinkish-brown creature said he put it back in the water but it kept trying to escape back out.

He said: «I found it washed up, put it back into the sea but it was clear it was holding itself out of the water to breath air, so I allowed it to wash up again and it was just moving around, breathing I imagine.

«People thought it was a sea cucumber but they can move themselves along the floor and this was unable to move itself.

«It seemed to have something inside which was moving around. The skin was almost transparent and you could see something else inside.»

Residents on the island said there had been large numbers of the marine «mutants»‘ washing up recently but so far nobody has been able to identify them.

Some have suggested the creature in the video is a sea leech or a sea slug — or even a mutant alien life form emerging from the deep.

Chakchai Inyapong, who works at a scuba diving business on the island, said: «I did not see these on the beach before, until a few weeks ago.

«They look harmless, they are cute.

«Yes, a lot of people joked that they’re aliens, but I thought aliens came from the sky. I’m not sure about that.»

According to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office more than one million British nationals visit Thailand each year.

Загадочное шевелящаяся существо на острове Ко Ланта, у юго-западного побережья Таиланда, в субботу днем. выброшенное на пляж, привлекло внимание британских туристов.

Местные жители не смогли объяснить кто это. Они так же рассказали что последние 5 недель появлялись такие каплевидные существа в пять дюймов в длину два три дюйма в ширину, розово мутного цвета с прозрачной оболочкой через которую можно видеть что там внутри.

Отдыхающий из Британии взял одного и положил назад в воду. Но существо держало свою маленькую морду над водой пытаясь дышать.
